Heimdal Threat Prevention is not an antivirus program (at least not a classic one, as you know it ), because it doesn't scan your local files or applications' code, neither it can quarantine and clean infected files. As the name suggests, this is a prevention module. It simply means it will try to detect and block the malware before it reaches your PC. It does this by adding extra layers of security through the following key features:
Not many people know this, but keeping your software up to date blocks up to 85% of web attacks.
When your security-critical applications are up to date, you close security holes that hackers can exploit.
Through X-Ploit Resilience, Heimdal monitors and automatically updates the programs installed on your PC.
If it finds a patch or a newer version available for your software, it will automatically download and install it in the background, without any interruptions or restarts required.
You can also install new software directly from Thor's interface, fast and safely.
You can adjust how frequently Heimdal scans your apps and checks for new software. The preset time is every 120 minutes.
Applications can also be excluded from monitoring or autoupdate.
Heimdal uses a next-gen antivirus engine, with local signature and cloud scanning, sandboxing and process modification behavioural detection.
It scans all your local files (on access or by request) to detect and stop potential viruses, APTs, exploits, data leakage, ransomware, and other malware. Quarantine & disinfects local infected files.
Simple and clean interface
No matter what option you buy, you will have the same graphic interface. Based on the purchased license, the modules will be enabled or disabled.

Designated "Anti Malware Solution of the Year", Oct. 2018 award UK
Users mostly rely on antivirus as their only security layer, but with the latest cyber threats like encrypting ransomware, traditional antivirus it's just not enough. While antivirus engine kicks in after an infection (reactive), you also need a good proactive security solution, to prevent getting infected in the first place. Our recommendation is to go with the full security solution Heimdal Premium Security, but you can always use Threat Prevention on its own, along with any other antivirus. It's a powerful shield against all kind of malware and other internet threats.
No single security software solution will block 100% of malware, but DNS traffic filtering and automatic software updates should be part of your PC protection as it will block the majority of malware distribution sources.
